Art di Daniele Sperindio wedding review: our affordable 1-star Michelin venue

Art di Daniele Sperindio wedding review

One of the earliest things we settled on for our wedding was none other than our venue. We wanted to lock it in asap because we knew we picked a popular date, and wedding venues in Singapore can be really limited.

From the get-go we knew that we were going to:

  • Keep the wedding small (no point inviting people whom we were not very close to)
  • Host a lunch (dinners are expensive), and
  • Not do a hotel banquet (not a fan of the food & service)

So that helped us narrow our choices by a fair bit!

We contacted quite a few restaurants but the venue was either too small, too expensive, or didn’t serve food that we both fancied.

After a few site recces and a lot of email threads, we finally settled on Art di Daniele Sperindio!

We initially shortlisted the Italian restaurant because it was in the National Gallery, which had special meaning to us, but confirmed the booking because we felt that it was quite value for money given that it offered amazing views AND food without charging a premium.

We are sharing this as reference for the kind of budget you should expect to have if you are looking to book Art di Daniele Sperindio for your wedding.

However, do note that rates have certainly increased and GST is now at 9% as well – we locked ours in at 8% in early 2023.

What we loved about Art di Daniele Sperindio

Venue’s central location

The wedding venue’s location mattered a lot to us as we wanted to make sure that it was accessible for all our guests. We did not want to trouble them to travel to far-flung parts of Singapore or those only accessible by car.

Art di Daniele Sperindio was right smack in the central of Singapore and within walking distance of City Hall MRT. This made it super convenient for our guests to get there by public transport!

However, do note that for your guests that are coming by car, parking is not free. This also includes your personal wedding entourage!

Gorgeous views from the National Gallery

Instead of being cooped up in a ballroom, we had the whole cityscape as the background for our solemnisation ceremony! All our photos were so beautiful and our guests also told us that they loved the good views.

Amazing food served by a Michelin-starred team

it was very important to us that our guests enjoyed only the best food during our celebration, and as expected of a Michelin-starred restaurant, Art di Daniele Sperindio certainly delivered!

The food tasting was the most enjoyable part of the wedding planning and many of our guests were very happy with the food served.

Within wedding budget

We were initially a bit worried that hosting a lunch here would cost us an arm and a leg but we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was not as expensive as we expected! Their minimum budget is one of the lowest among the restaurants we enquired as well, which is great if you’re planning on keeping your guest list short!

Good service

Our wedding coordinator was not the most responsive sometimes, but we’ll give her credit for really following up with us nearing the date and accommodating our frequent last-minute guest changes.

The waiting staff on that day were also very professional and provided great service. They are not part-timers, which are typical of hotel banquets.

Cosy space for an intimate wedding

We initially planned for up to 80 guests but dropped the list to 60+ pax, which actually fit snugly in the dining room itself.

We received compliments from our guests that our wedding was very comfortable and intimate without feeling claustrophobic.

What we didn’t like too much

Lack of projectors & TVs

We had to engage an external vendor for this, but if you’re ok with not using these (no videos to show) then it’s not a huge issue.

Lack of bridal room

I think this was the biggest problem of hosting our wedding lunch at Art di Daniele Sperindio. The nearest toilet is one level below and you have to walk up & down the stairs to get to the toilet to change. I had 2 outfit changes so it was a bit inconvenient but it wasn’t too bad because my dresses were not overly bulky with long trains.

No champagne provided for toasting

They provided glasses but not the champagne (lol) so we had to separately purchase this. On that note, their alcohol is also quite pricey because they only offer very good-quality options.

Too many random tourists

The problem with hosting at the National Gallery was that there were so many random tourists coming up to take photos of the views… and our wedding! It was so awkward to have people we didn’t know taking photos of our setup and even taking selfies with our floral arches. Thankfully, the restaurant staff actively chased them away.

If you’re considering to book a restaurant for a small wedding but are not sure where or can’t find good reviews for Art di Daniele Sperindio – this is the review you need!
