One important item you’ll need to have at your wedding solemnisation is definitely your wedding bands (unless you’re not planning to wear any!). Hence, we made sure to tick this off our wedding to-do list early.
We initially considered getting from the typical jewelry brands, but we felt that most designs were quite ordinary. The prices weren’t exactly very low either, even after the discount given from our engagement ring.
Thankfully, Tofu G got a recommendation from a friend who made their own customised rings at Fat Anvil Studios and suggested we do the same! They are a metalsmithing studio located in Singapore that walks clients through crafting their very own jewelry, including wedding bands.
We thought it would be quite meaningful to make our own rings so they’ll be one-of-a-kind, so we did an initial consultation with them for an accurate price quotation before confirming the workshop!
The workshop process

The workshop was a private 1-on-1 session and took a total of about 2.5 hours.
For someone who is not very hands-on, I found it easy to follow along and actually very enjoyable!

The instructor was very patient and provided a lot of guidance while letting us really work on the rings, so we didn’t end up having the rings completely made by her (a professional) instead.

Other than getting the chance to make our own rings (or rather, each other’s rings), what I really liked about this experience was being able to customise our own ring designs.
We were able to fuse together two different metals (for symbolism and aesthetic ✨) and also create different textures on the rings. This would not be readily available if we had just bought off the shelf, or else cost a bomb if we had it customised elsewhere.

We were really happy with the finished product – the engraving was very clear (we opted to engrave different matching purchases on each ring) and the different colour gradients were so gorgeous!

Cost breakdown
- Design : Dual Tone Bands with Hammered Textures
- Material : 18K Palladium White Gold with Rhodium Plating & 18K Rose Gold
- Ring Size : 15.5 & 8.5
- Engraving : Standard
- Initial Quotation : $460 (Workshop Fees)* + $875 (Material) + $60 (Standard Engraving) + $80 (Rhodium Plating) = $1475
- Buyback : $105 (buyback of unused gold)
Final : $460 (Workshop Fees)* + $770 (Material) + $60 (Standard Engraving) + $80 (Rhodium Plating) = $1370 (Total)
* After friend discount (UP $510)
To our pleasant surprise, everything actually cost much less than we expected! This was partly due to the materials we chose (rose gold is slightly cheaper), and also because we had a friend referral discount on the workshop fees.
If we had not chosen engraving and rhodium plating, the cost would certainly be much lower!
If you’re looking to create special, one-of-a-kind wedding bands, on a budget, and are not specifically looking for big brand names, we would highly recommend reaching out to Fat Anvil Studios!
Please feel free to share this article with them, or you can reach out to us on Instagram for our actual names so that you can get the discount on your workshop fees as well.
P.S. we don’t earn any commission from this, just want to share this so that you can save a bit on your wedding prep!
